Two types of membership are available:

1. Full Membership—Salaried UCSD faculty members are eligible for full membership in the CII if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
   1. Serve as Principal Investigator or co-investigator on a funded project involving patient- or disease-oriented research
   2. Organize or play a substantive role in an essential CII academic activity
   3. Significantly collaborate in research conducted by CII members, defined as providing essential and sustained intellectual or practical help to CII research projects, recruiting significant numbers of patients to clinical trials led by CII members, publishing regularly with a CII member, or systematically assisting in the procurement of clinical specimens for disease-oriented research.
      
      
2. Associate Membership may be granted to 1) salaried or non-salaried UCSD faculty; 2) individuals in the project scientist series; 3) selected individuals at research institutions; or 4) selected individuals from industry who are consistently interested in and participate in clinical investigation.
